Engineering

Solid engineering is the foundation of a smooth construction process and an optimal end result. At Dijkstaal, we have a highly experienced in-house engineering team with a deep understanding of steel structures, connection design, and production constraints. Over the years, we have optimized numerous structural designs, delivering substantial savings in both cost and construction time for our clients.

Our engineers don’t just calculate – they think along. From the very beginning, we take manufacturability, buildability, and overall project feasibility into account. We consider factors such as the availability and cost of materials, the capacity of our machinery and tools, and of course the applicable Eurocodes and project-specific requirements from the client, structural engineer, architect, and contractor.

We often find opportunities where selecting higher-grade steel or adjusting the geometry leads to more efficient solutions. These optimizations can reduce weight, simplify connections, and lower transport or assembly costs.

Our team is equipped to carry out both global and detailed structural calculations, and we provide the necessary engineering documentation and reports to support the execution and approval process.

In many projects, we’re entrusted with the engineering as a preliminary order — even before the final steelwork contract is signed. This proactive approach helps accelerate the project timeline and allows for a more accurate forecast of both construction duration and total project costs — not only for Dijkstaal’s scope, but also for the overall build.

Our engineering services include:

  • Main structural calculations and global analysis [using SCIA Engineer]
  • Detailed calculations for connections and interfaces with concrete structures [using IDEA StatiCa]
  • Second opinions and structural optimizations of steelwork
  • Workshop and assembly drawings for steel structures [using Tekla Structures]
